Field Trip on Wednesday!

Field Trip! - AG Expo

All 1st graders will be going on a field trip to the AG Expo!  The expo is located at the Meridian Professional Technical Center which is West of Meridian High School.  

When:  September 25 from 9 - 12:00

A field trip permission slip will be sent home soon!  I am in need of volunteers to walk with our students.  Volunteers will need to ride in their own cars to the expo because we are limited in bus seats. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer for this fun even!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Please reserve space on your calendars!  I will be sending home your conference time in early October!

Parent /Teacher Conferences Tuition Kindergarten – Fifth Grade:

• -Wednesday, October 9th    4:30-8:00
• -Thursday, October 10th     8:00-12:00; 1:00-4:00; and 4:30-8:00 
• -NO SCHOOL on October 10^th and 11^th for Tuition Kindergarten - 5^th Grade students.

 Please send in Box Tops!  They are a simple way to make money for our classroom and school!

5th Grade Buddies

On Friday, we worked with our 5th grade buddies!  Each buddy group was responsible for learning about an American Symbol and creating a mini PowerPoint on their symbol.  I have attached a couple of examples with more to be finished and posted!

Licorice Friday!

Discovery PTA is going to start Licorice and Spirit Wear Fridays! It will usually be held on the 3rd Friday of the month. This month it will be on Friday the 20th.

 

The licorice is $.25 for 2 pieces or $2 if you want to pre-pay for the whole year. If you would like to pre-pay, please turn in the money in an envelope with your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name with “PTA”on the outside of the envelope.

 

Licorice will be sold by the cafeteria exit at lunch. If your student does not pre-pay, they will bring the money with them to lunch and pay for it as they exit.

Spirit Day!

First ever Spirit Day competition! 

9-20-13 = The class with the most students wearing “Discovery Spirit Wear” will be awarded the Spirit Stick to keep in their classroom for the month.

Parent Survey

Our district would like information from our parents.  We are looking to determine parents’ perception of technology’s effectiveness at helping students. We are looking at the different types and amounts of technology within the district.  All of the information will be combined into “groups” for comparison- not the individual level.  Please take a few moments to complete the survey.  Thanks!

Discovery Night At The Farmstead!

It’s Discovery Night

Monday, September 30^th from 4-9pm

Don’t miss the event of the season… 

$4 per person or

$3 if you wear your Discovery Elementary spirit wear!

Admission includes an unlimited wristband to the corn maze, hayride, jumping pillow, cow train, corn box, spider web, slides, straw palace, and...The Creature!

*$1 for each admission will be donated to Discovery Elementary.

If you are interested in having your face painted or getting a glitter tattoo, Stacia Nicholson will be at the Face Painting Booth.  

Tell her you are with Discovery and she will give you a $1 discount.

School Picture Day - Wednesday, September 11!

School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 11!  You may send in picture money on Monday, Tuesday or first thing Wednesday morning.  Picture envelopes were sent home last week.  If you did not get one, please contact the office for a replace.  Thanks!
