More Buddy Work

Today, we spent 30 minutes working with our buddies on our newscast.  Enjoy the pictures!  Next week, we will have some completed projects to share.

Team Canada

Congratulations to Team Canada - created by Kennedy, Trevyn, Thomas and

The students worked together to learn more about Canada by conducting their own research using myOn, Google Earth and a book resource.  First, they created a plan for their presentation by drafting up each slide.. then they transferred their ideas to Powerpoint.  Not bad for their first team project!  I can't wait to see what they are doing by the end of May.

Click here to view Powerpoint:  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40170676/canada.pptx

Again, nice job by Team Canada!  First graders rock! :)

Star Student - Braxon

Meet our Star Student Braxon!  He created a little movie about himself to present to the class.  Click here to view or click on the video below!  Enjoy!  ps.. Braxon made this mostly by himself..  -- pretty impressive!

Star Student
A star student schedule was sent home today. Your child will be making an iMovie to share with the class on his or her special day. At your convenience, could you share 5-6 photos by emailing them to me? It would be best if you could send them at least 1 week before your child’s star student day. They will need a week to work on their presentation. If you cannot email, please send them in and I will scan them. I will send you a copy of the final iMovie.
Valentine’s Day!
Please send in an empty cereal box so that we may decorate. We need a big box for our class valentines! Also, if you are able to send in a topping for our ice cream sundae treat. Please let me know!
Digital Learning Day!
Last week, we celebrated Digital Learning Day with our 5th and 2nd grade buddies.

Prodigy Math

I introduced a new online math game that aligns with our common core curriculum. The students are very excited and engaged in conquering math skills in this game. If you would like to learn more or if your child would like to play at home, check it out here:

More Digital Learning Day Photos

Digital Learning Day!

Today, we recognized Digital Learning Day by creating newscasts with our 2nd grade buddies using iMovie.  We reported on the Winter Olympics, toothpaste, George Washington and nocturnal animals.  They are still working on the newscasts - when they are complete I will post to our blog.  We also met with our 5th grade buddies to work on our numbers 1 - 120.  We worked on a "Prove it" concept.  The 1st graders built numbers and had to explain their thinking.  Enjoy the pictures.. We worked hard today!

A Trip Around the World

Today, I introduced our first project based learning activity.  After taking a virtual trip to China last week, the students are now working in teams to take their own trips around the world.  The students are using iPads, netbooks and a book resource to help them on their journey.  They will study 5 different countries and present to the class about their adventures.  Over the next month, I will be posting their finished projects!  Here are a few photos of the students in action!
